TULSA, Okla. - The Mavericks ended their penultimate week of the regular season with a 1-1 tie at Oral Roberts today on the road. Omaha now carries a five-match unbeaten streak into their final game of the season next week.
The Mavericks are now 9-2-5 on the season with a 3-1-3 record (12 points) in Summit League play, while the Golden Eagles end their week at 8-6-3 with a 3-1-2 conference record (11 points). With North Dakota State (5-1-1, 16 points) and South Dakota State (4-1-1, 13 points) both winning today, Omaha is no longer able to secure the No. 1 seed. With one game left to play, the Mavericks can still secure a first-round bye and the No. 2 seed in the Summit League Tournament with a win over Kansas City while the Jackrabbits cannot win either of their final two matches.
How it Happened
- It was a quiet first half for both teams as the Mavericks and Golden Eagles combined for no goals and just four shots on goal. Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen did her part in goal for Omaha, stopping all three shots she faced to keep it scoreless.
- Still tied at 0-0 in the 70th minute, ORU's Lela Stark got a steal right in front of Omaha's net and immediately capitalized with the go-ahead goal.
- With the clock winding down and less than four minutes to play, the Mavericks got a lucky break as Grace Crockett's corner kick went off an ORU defender and out of bounds to give Omaha another chance. Crockett delivered the ball to Alyssa Kellar who headed it backwards and right at the feet of Cece Behrens who bounced it over the keeper to make it 1-1.
Inside the Box
- The goal from Behrens was her second of the season and the 11th of her career.
- Kellar's assist was her third of the season and ties her with Marissa Gohr for the team lead in points with 13.
