Crockett Breaks Assists Record as Mavericks Blank St. Thomas in Home Finale

OMAHA, Neb. - Playing in their final regular season home match of the season, the Mavericks picked up their sixth win of the season at Caniglia Field as they shutout St. Thomas 1-0 today. Omaha's 6-1-2 record at home is the program's best in the Division I era, topping the 2018 by a single tie (6-1-1). Grace Crockett had the assist on the lone goal of the game, giving her 15 in her career to set a new program record in the Division I era.

Overall, the Mavericks are now 3-1-1 in Summit League play and 9-2-3 on the season, tying them with the 2021 team (9-8-2) for the most wins in the program's Division I history. As for the Tommies, they fall to 0-4-1 in conference play and 4-8-2 overall.

How it Happened

  • The Mavericks kept the pressure on the Tommies early, taking four corner kicks between the seventh and 18th minutes. On the first attempt, Cece Behrens nearly headed one in at 7:44, but after review it was confirmed the ball bounced off the post and did not break the goal line. 10 minutes later, though, Crockett, taking her fourth corner of the day, connected with Marissa Gohr who headed it in to make it 1-0.
  • Meanwhile, UST got off six shots (three on goal) in the first half, only for Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen to stop everything the Tommies could throw at her.
  • St. Thomas fought hard over the last 45, totaling 12 shots, including nine on goal, against Maja Baun. The freshman was more than up to the task, however, making a career high nine saves to preserve the shutout for Omaha. Four of her saves came in the final six minutes as she successfully held off the final push from UST.

Inside the Box

  • The Mavericks have now won three straight matches, all by a score of 1-0. In this span, Reedtz and Baun have gone a perfect 18-for-18 on saves.
  • In eight games at Caniglia Field this season, the Mavericks outscored the opposition 12-7.
  • Gohr's goal was her fourth of the season, tying her career high from last year.
