DENVER, Colo. - The Mavericks will remain in second place in the Summit League for another day as they began their penultimate week of the season with a 1-1 tie at Denver tonight.
The Mavericks are now 9-2-4 on the season with a 3-1-2 record in Summit League play, while the Pioneers and still hanging on with Omaha in the standings now at 9-5-2 with a 3-1-2 league record.
It was also a record-breaking night for Grace Ostergaard, who made her 93rd career start tonight. She now holds the all-time program records for starts and appearances with 93 each, as well as the all-time record for minutes played with 7789.
How it Happened
- After holding the Pioneers to zero shots on goal through the first 20 minutes, Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen made back-to-back saves after the 22nd minute to keep it scoreless. However, Denver soon broke the tie with a goal from Addisyn Hyrup at 25:36. Omaha's defense would quickly recover and keep the Pioneers from making another shot for the rest of the half.
- It did not take long for the Mavericks to respond to Denver's goal. With the first shot of the day for Omaha, Meg Nemnich came up with a loose ball just outside the box and buried it in the bottom right corner to make it 1-1.
- Neither team scored another goal in the second half, with Omaha posting zero shots over the final 45. Denver tallied 15 more shots, but only two were on goal and both were stopped by Maja Baun.
Inside the Box
- After scoring her first career goal one week ago today, Nemnich now has two on the season in her fourth year in Omaha.
- Denver's goal snapped a three-match shutout streak for Omaha and is the first goal allowed by the Mavericks in the month of October.
