Mavericks Set Make Season Debut at Hurricane Invite

Jan 12, 2024

Omaha Women's Tennis will make its 2024 season debut tomorrow at the Hurricane Invite in Tulsa Oklahoma.

Omaha will open up the tournament on Jan. 13 at 9 a.m. with the University of Tulsa. They'll resume action Sunday morning with a dual against the University of Wyoming then play again at 1 p.m. against Louisiana Tech.

Last season the Mavericks opened their season at the Hurricane Invite, recording a 5-2 win over the University of Wyoming.

"Excited to get started. We have three great teams to compete with to start the season. All three will be challenging and test us," said head coach Adam Summitt. "Each of these teams finished 2023 nationally ranked in the top 75. Knowing which teams are here I have no doubt they will finish ranked again. We return a couple of players who missed all of last year, Colby Kelley and Summer Shannon. I know they're excited to be back. They've put in a ton of time to rehab over the past year. They will make an impact this weekend."

The Mavericks 2024 schedule features nine home matches. All of which will be played at Miracle Hill Tennis Center.

Omaha's conference slate is highlighted by six Summit opponents, South Dakota (Mar. 1), Denver (Mar. 9), North Dakota (Mar. 24),  Oral Roberts (Mar. 29), St. Thomas (Apr. 6), and Kansas City (Apr. 13).
