Omaha, Neb— United Soccer Coaches has announced Omaha's Regan Zimmers as a Defender to Watch for the upcoming season, the Division I All-America Comittee announced Tuesday.
Zimmers started every match in 2022, logging 1,930 minutes, the second-most by any Maverick. The redshirt senior from Omaha recorded a goal and two assists and helped the team notch eight shutouts over the season. Three of those clean sheets came en route to Omaha's first ever Summit League title and Division I NCAA Tournament appearance.
"I'm happy for Regan," head coach Tim Walters said. "It's nice to see a local player getting recognized for her career so far in Omaha, but more importantly I'm looking forward to her continued maturity and leadership with our group this season."
Zimmers and the Mavericks play host to Creighton on Friday, Aug. 11 at 6:30 p.m. for their final friendly match of the preseason. The regular season begins on Thursday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. when Omaha welcomes Southern Utah to Caniglia Field.
