OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Women's Soccer team officially released its Fall 2023 schedule on Thursday, featuring 16 matches plus two exhibitions. The Mavericks will play eight non-conference matches and eight Summit League matches, with nine total home matches.
Following home exhibitions against the College of St. Mary (August 9) and Creighton (August 11), the Mavericks kick off their non-conference schedule at home vs. Southern Utah on August 17 and Utah Tech three days later. They will then play their first road match of the year at Missouri on the 24th. After facing the Power 5 opponent, the Mavericks return home and close out the first month with matches vs. Wyoming (August 27) and UC Santa Barbara (August 31).
Omaha opens September on the road at Northern Iowa on September 3 and Drake one week later on September 10. The Mavericks close out their non-conference slate on September 17 at home when they host another Power 5 opponent in Oklahoma.
The Mavericks will begin their Summit League schedule with two road games at North Dakota (Sept. 21) and North Dakota State (Sept. 24). This is followed by a three-game home stand vs. Oral Roberts (September 28), Denver (October 1), and South Dakota (October 5).
Into the final stretch, Omaha plays South Dakota State on the road on October 12, before hosting Kansas City on the 15th in their home finale. Finally, in the regular season finale, the Mavericks head to Minnesota to take on St. Thomas on October 22.
Overall, the Mavericks went 7-9-6 in 2022, but with a 4-2-3 conference record. In the Summit League Tournament, freshman goalkeeper
Emma Konsmo was lights out, making 15 saves and posting three shutouts to lead the Mavericks to their first ever Summit league title. Omaha would go on to reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the program's Division I history.
Ultimately, five Mavericks earned All-Summit honors last season, including Konsmo who earned All-Newcomer honors alongside fellow freshman
Lindsey Birch.
Jordyn West picked up an honorable mention after another tremendous season on defense, while
Grace Ostergaard earned Second Team accolades for the third year in a row. Rounding out the five was
Regan Zimmers, who not only earned First Team honors but United Soccer Coaches All-West Region honors as well after leading Omaha's defense to eight shutouts.
