OMAHA, Neb. - Men's basketball head coach Chris Crutchfield announced the signing of Nick Davis today as the third newcomer who will join the Omaha squad next season.
Davis, a 6'9 forward, is a graduate of Mansfield High School in Summit, Texas, where he started for the basketball team. As a senior he averaged 10.8 points and 5.7 rebounds on his way to being named Honorable Mention All-District 7-6A.
"We are so excited to have a guy with Nick's size & experience," noted Crutchfield. "He's played in over 100 games in his career. He will give us a much needed post defensive presence & athleticism. We are looking forward to Nick getting to campus & working with him"
Following graduation Nick attended Southern Nazarene University, where he would continue to excel on the hardwood. Nick appeared in 102 games, including 77 starts for the Crimson Storm. He scored 876 career points, pulled down 248 rebounds, and recorded 99 blocks in his 4-year career at SNU. In his senior season, Nick averaged 12.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, and shot over 60% from the field. He was voted Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-Conference in the Great American Conference.
With his contributions, SNU won the GAC Regular Season title while boasting a 27-5 record and qualifying for the NCAA Division II National Tournament where they went on to stun the #2 team in the nation to advance to the Sweet 16. As a junior, Nick led the GAC in field goal percentage, shooting 68.9% from the field. In his sophomore season he led the team shooting 57.7% from the field while playing in all 19 games. As a freshman, the Crimson Storm GAC Regular Season Champions and Nick led the team in field goal percentage shooting 68.6% while playing in 22 contests.
