Mavericks Fall in 14 Inning Defensive Battle

Box Score The Omaha Mavericks played in their longest game of the season this afternoon against the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. Omaha lost the defensive 1-0 when SDSU was awarded the winning run off a throwing error that ended up in the dugout. Omaha will face the Creighton Bluejays in a Tuesday tilt next week before traveling to Kansas City for a three game series with the Roos.

How It Happened
  • Senior ace Kamryn Meyer pitched nine brilliant shutout innings. She faced 38 batters and allowed just five hits while striking out four.
  • Sydney Nuismer came into the ballgame in the 10th inning. She stranded a runner on third base in the bottom of the 10th and 13th innings to extend the game.
  • Nuismer allowed three hits and struck out three batters in 4.1 innings pitched.
  • The winning run was unearned as Osmundson singled; Tollefson advanced to third and scored on a throwing error that was thrown into the dugout
GAME NOTES
  • Today's game was the longest game the Mavericks have played since March 31, 2019 when they played North Dakota to 13 innings
  • Maggie O'Brien had three of the Mavericks six hits today. It's her second three-hit game of the season
