The Omaha Mavericks Women's Tennis team is scheduled to face Western Illinois tomorrow afternoon and St. Thomas Sunday morning in their final two road matchups of the regular season.
"This weekend will be challenging for us. WIU is improved and brought back most, if not all of their team,: Omaha head coach Adam Summutt said. "They competed well all year and they have picked up some impressive wins so far. They are never an easy out, especially when we are on the road."
The Mavericks are coming off a 1-1 home weekend. They defeated defeated Oral Roberts in a gutsy come from behind win on Friday night. The following day, they battled Marquette hard to the final serve but came up just short in a 3-4 defeat.
"We then follow that up with St. Thomas, who is a dangerous team. They are way better than their record indicates," Summitt said. "If we are not focused and ready to go, we could be in trouble. Though we know what we need to do this weekend and hope we can execute."
The Leathernecks enter tomorrow's match 4-11. WIU is 0-3 in conference play and has dropped their last four contests. St. Thomas has just one victory in their 14 matches this year and are currently riding an eight match skid.
