The Omaha Mavericks Track & Field squad head North to Vermillion, South Dakota this weekend to compete in the two-day USD Early Bird meet.

One of the challenges for this week will be the size of the competition.  With large field sizes and multiple heats and flights, part of the strategy is staying focused.  We need to always control what we can control and let everything else take care of itself.  With some good performances last week, I'm hoping to carry that momentum into the weekend. 

Omaha is coming off of a solid outdoor debut last weekend at the Central Nebraska Challenge. They tallied multiple top three finishes and two victories. Carrie Simonson helped the 4 x 100 relay team to victory with a time of 47.90. Simonson also registered a pair of 2nd place finishes in the 100m race and the long jump. She ran to a time of 12.29 and lept 5.45m in the long jump.
