Mavericks Welcome Leathernecks to Connie Claussen Field for Home Series Finale

LEADING OFF
The Mavericks return to Connie Claussen Field for the final time in 2023 for a three-game series with Western Illinois. Omaha enters the weekend on a six-game winning streak.

QUICK HITS
• The Mavericks swept the South Dakota Coyotes last weekend, climbing to second place in the Summit League standings. Omaha outscored South Dakota 16-4 over three games.
Sydney Ross collected at least one hit in all three games against the Coyotes. She has now reached base safely in 15-straight games, and has a hit in each of her last seven games.
• Ross, the catcher, also leads the Summit League in stolen bases. Ross stole two bases over three games last weekend, and now has 17 steals on the season.
Lynsey Tucker had a three-hit game in Sunday's 8-1 victory. Tucker now has 14 multi-hit games this season, and leads the team with 45 hits. Tucker is averaging .357 at the plate, the fourth-best batting average in the Summit League.
•With another 15 strikeouts last weekend over two complete-game victories Kamryn Meyer matched Cheris Kuster's career strikeout record of 698 (2004-07). Meyer needs just one more strikeout to take sole possession of the Mavericks' career strikeout record

SCOUTING THE WESTERN ILLINOIS LEATHERNECKS

The Leathernecks come to Maverick Park after a 1-2 weekend at home against Kansas City. WIU was able to take game two of the double-header on Saturday in six innings by a score of 9-1. They dropped the other two games of the series by scores of 9-7, and 10-4. Even with the series loss, Western Illinois remains ahead of Kansas City in the Summit League standings.

LEATHERNECKS TO WATCH
• Bella Alvarez is the Leathernecks leading hitter, batting .336 with five home runs. Alvarez leads the team with 38 hits, including eight doubles. Savannah Rodriguez provides the power for the WIU offense. Rodriguez is hitting .301 with a team-leading six home runs and 18 RBI.
• Emily Price leads the way in the circle with a 3.02 ERA. Price has struck out 90 batters while allowing 114 hits. Savannah Rodriguez is also a power-pitcher. Rodriguez leads the team with 97 strikeouts over 104 innings pitched. She has an ERA of 4.43.
