Mavericks Ready for Summit League Tournament Battle with Denver

Apr 20, 2023

For the second season in a row, Omaha head coach Adam Summitt has led his Maverick women's tennis squad to the Summit League Tournament. Omaha, the four seed in the postseason tournament will take on top seeded Denver in the opening round.

"We have a great opportunity in front of us. We had to really accomplish a lot to get into the tournament and for that we should be proud," Summitt said. "We will have a tall task to complete by taking on Denver. They are just a really good team. Well coached and disciplined. We competed well at some spots earlier in the year. I hope we learned a few things to apply this time around. Just want the girls to go into this match and compete as hard as they can."

The Mavericks won four of their final five matches of the regular season to finish 8-14. Omaha went 4-3 in Summit play. Denver was 16-4 in the regular season and went an undefeated 6-0 in conference matches. Omaha and Denver met one time in the regular season which resulted in the Pioneers getting the best of the Mavericks in the road match.

Tomorrow's semifinal match will get underway with a 3:00 p.m. first serve. The winner of the match will advance to Saturday's championship round and will play the winner of Kansas City vs. North Dakota at 2:00 p.m.
