Mavericks to Face Bulldogs and Roos this weekend

Mar 9, 2023

The Omaha Women's Tennis team will look to get back to their winning ways this weekend when they face the Drake Bulldogs and UM-KC Roos. Omaha will meet the Bulldogs in battle tomorrow night at 5:00 p.m. in Des Moines, Iowa. The Mavericks will welcome the Roos to Omaha this Sunday, March 12 in their second Summit match of the season. First serve for Sunday's match is 3:30 p.m.

"We have two great opportunities in front of us this weekend. We start with a really tough opponent in Drake. They are always solid and a top team in the central region," head coach Adam Summitt said. "We competed well with them in the fall events. If we have a positive, and competitive mentality, anything can happen.
"With UMKC, we will be challenged in every spot. Last year they were much better than their record indicated," Summitt said. "We will need to be focused and playing some of our best tennis if we want to pick up a win. UMKC is well coached and coach Hale will have them fired up."

Freshman Zoe Adkins currently leads all Mavericks in singles victories with seven. She is 7-4 in the number two singles slot. A trio of doubles pairings are 2-2 this season for Omaha. Brooke Covington/ Keegan VanPelt, Addison Miller/Brooke Convington and Jessica Aragon/ Zoe Adkins are all .500 so far this year. The pairing of Ines Absisan and Keegan VanPelt are 2-1.
