The Mavericks head to Wichita, Kan., for a midweek matchup with the No. 23 Wichita State Shockers before returning home for a Summit League series against the North Dakota Fighting Hawks.
QUICK HITS
• Omaha welcomed the Creighton Bluejays and St. Thomas Tommies to Connie Claussen Field last week. The Mavericks defeated the Bluejays 2-1 on Wednesday, then won both games of the doubleheader against the Tommies on Saturday. Sunday's series finale against St. Thomas was canceled due to weather.
• The Mavericks won 8-1 in game one of the series last weekend.
Kamryn Meyer matched her season-high in strikeouts, collecting 15 against the Tommies in her eighth complete game of the year.
• The Mavericks' bats exploded in the fifth inning of game two on Saturday.

Emma Durr launched their first home runs of the season in the bottom of the fifth, accumulating six RBI and securing a 9-0 victory.

Lynsey Tucker collected three hits over the weekend and now has 27 on the season. Tucker leads the Mavericks in hits, multi-hit games (8), and batting average (.370).

Kamryn Meyer continues to dominate the Summit League. Through 10 starts, Meyer has an ERA of 1.21, 119 strikeouts, 14 earned runs and two home runs allowed, all League-bests.
• The Omaha softball team was tabbed second in the 2023 Summit League Preseason Poll, the league announced.

Mike Heard enters his second season at the helm. He compiled a 32-14 overall record in his first year. Over his seven-year head coaching career, Heard sits at 184-110.

The Shockers opened up American Athletic Conference play, going 2-1 in a series at UCF. Currently ranked 23rd in the NCFA Top-25, Wichita State has won 27 of their first 34 games to start the season, and is 8-2 in the last 10 games. The Shockers played Nebraska in a double-header earlier this season, defeating the Huskers 10-8, and 10-1. The Mavericks and Huskers met in a double-header as well. Nebraska took both games, by scores of 2-1, and 11-3.
SHOCKERS TO WATCH
• Sydney McKinney leads the nation with a .539 batting average over 33 games. McKinney also leads the NCAA in hits with 62.
• Lauren Mills is batting .447 through 33 games. Mills has nine home runs this season and leads the Shockers with 24 walks.
• Zoe Jones provides much of the power for Wichita State. Jones leads the Shockers with 10 home runs and 39 RBI on the season.
• In the circle, Aguilar leads the way. Alex Aguilar has an ERA of 1.96 through eight starts, including 34 strikeouts and an opposing batting average of .199.

The Fighting Hawks are 3-29 on the season and 0-2 in Summit League play. Last weekend against the South Dakota, they lost 3-0, and 9-1. North Dakota has wins over Lindenwood, Pennsylvania and Rider. The Fighting Hawks come to Connie Claussen Field on a five-game losing streak.
FIGHTING HAWKS TO WATCH
• Cassie Castaneda leads North Dakota with a batting average of .305 over 32 appearances. Castaneda also leads the Fighting Hawks in hits (29), doubles (8), and home runs (3).
• Madison Pederson has a batting average of .270. Pederson leads North Dakota with 19 RBI on 20 hits.
• Jackie Albrecht is the ace for the Fighting Hawks. Through a team-high 13 starts, she has struck out 62 batters. Albrecht has an ERA of 6.13, and has thrown three complete games
