Women’s Tennis to Battle North Dakota and Wichita State

Mar 23, 2023

The Omaha Women's Tennis team is set for a pair of matches this weekend after being idle over Spring Break. They'll face the North Dakota Fighting Hawks on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at home then hit the road to take on the Shockers of Wichita State.

"We are looking forward to another challenging weekend. We have two great teams in front of us," Omaha head coach Adam Summitt said. "North Dakota will be a tough draw. They have played well this year and have started off hot in conference winning their first few contests. They are a team with great energy and fight, and we know what they will bring to the table, we must be ready."

North Dakota is 2-0 in conference play and 7-10 overall. They enter tomorrow's match 3-6 on the road this season. The Shockers are 7-8 and are currently riding a three-match losing streak. However, Wichita State is 4-0 at home this season. They will face South Dakota State before meeting the Mavericks, Sunday afternoon at 11:00 a.m.

"As for Wichita State, they are always good and one of the best mid-major programs in the country," Summitt said. They are currently nationally ranked and have a really good squad. We will have to play some of our best tennis to beat them. I think the team is re-energized form the break and ready for the challenge."
