Mavericks Hit the Windy City for Pair of Matches

Feb 9, 2023

The Omaha Mavericks Women's Tennis squad hits the Windy City of Chicago, Illinois this weekend to take on the Western Michigan Broncos and Chicago State University Cougars.

"Looking forward to keeping the momentum going this weekend. We have two really good teams to play," Omaha head coach Adam Summitt said. "Western Michigan is very good, always has been. They played Nebraska to start the year and went toe-to-toe with them, so I know we will have our hands full."

The Broncos enter tomorrow's match on a two-game winning streak and are 3-2 on the season. The Cougars are 1-5 but secured their first victory of the season last weekend in a 4-3 win over Saint Louis University.

"Chicago State is a team we see almost every year; and every year we have exciting and close matches," Summitt said. "We have to be focused and engaged all weekend if we want to be successful this."

The Mavericks are coming off their home debut weekend where they went 1-1. Creighton narrowly escaped with a 4-3 victory over Omaha last Friday. The Mavericks turned around on Sunday and defeated Bradley University handedly by a score of 6-1.

The Mavericks and Broncos will get the weekend action started tomorrow afternoon with a 2:00 p.m. first serve. You can follow along via live stats here. Omaha and Chicago State will begin play at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Live stats can be accessed for the match here.
