Quick Hits
  • The Mavericks remain undefeated at home this season as they routed York 104-68 on Monday in their first of two games this week.
  • The big story out of Monday's game was Tony Osburn's record-setting performance in which he broke Omaha's record for three-pointers in a single game with nine. He totaled a career-high 32 points in the process, becoming the first Maverick to reach that mark this year. Osburn also started off his night a perfect 5-for-5 from deep, later setting the record with just 19 seconds left. He ended his night with 11 field goals, the most by a Maverick this year.
  • For the first time this year, five Mavericks scored in double-digits in a game. Nick Davis (14) and Jaeden Marshall (13) both set new season highs, as did Marcel Bryant (11) who scored double-digits for the first time in his career. Frankie Fidler (13) rounded out the group.
  • Fidler is also one step closer to becoming the 11th Maverick in the Division I era to score 1000 career points as he now has 959 in his career.
  • In all, the Mavericks scored 14 three-pointers on Monday, the most the team has had since November 24, 2018 when they scored 14 vs. Montana State.
  • The victory over York also marked the first time this year that Omaha broke 100 points in a single game, as well as the first time the team posted a FG% above .500 at .556 (40-for-72).
  • Since last season, Omaha is now 6-1 against non-conference opponents at home.
  • Grant Stubblefield, Bryant, Davis, and Biko Johnson are Omaha's top newcomers coming into this season.
  • Stubblefield was named 6A Player of the Year and First Team All-State while at Blue Valley Northwest and Bryant was named the Austin Area Player of the Year at Cedar Ridge. Johnson is coming off his second season at Western Nebraska CC where he was named All-Conference and All-Nebraska, while Davis is fresh off winning GAC Defensive Player of the Year and a trip to the Sweet 16 of the Division II NCAA Tournament with Southern Nazarene.
  • Fidler was Omaha's lone All-Summit honoree last season, earning an Honorable Mention. He led Omaha in scoring (14.7 ppg), rebounding (5.8 rpg), steals (1.2 spg), and free throw percentage (.887), with his FT% in particular ranking in the NCAA's top-25 for most of the season.
  • Head Coach Chris Crutchfield has a 23-36 career record. It marks his third season as a head coach and second with the Mavericks.

Scouting the Bellevue Bruins
After starting their season 0-6, the Bruins won back-to-back against Ozark Christian (93-72) and Harris-Stowe (70-62) two weeks ago, before dropping two close ones earlier this week against Langston (64-69) and Midland (65-69).

Jerome Bynum (138 points, 13.8 ppg), TJ Fritz (122 points, 12.2 ppg), and Nigel Wilson (103 points, 10.3 ppg) combine for over half of Bellevue's total points this season (363 out of 714). All three are shooting over 45% from the field, with Bynum also leading the team shooting 77% (22-for-25) from the stripe and Fritz leading the way on three pointers at 50.8% (30-for-59).

Fritz is also tied with Jaden Phillips for the team lead in rebounds with 40, while Bynum's 24 assists are tops on the Bruins and Wilson's 20 blocks are first as well.

Head Coach Lucas Gabriel took over the Bruins in 2019-20 after previously serving as the team's associate head coach the season prior. During his first four seasons with the program, he has led them to two NSAA Titles, two NAIA National Tournament appearances, and an NSAA Coach of the Year honor in his first season. He also brings international coaching experience, serving as Associate Head Coach for the Jump 10 Chinese International All-Star team for the last three years.

All-Time Against Bellevue
Omaha is 10-1 all-time vs. Bellevue, last beating them all the way back in November 2023 when they won by the slimmest of margins at 65-64.
