Mavericks, Coyotes Set for Saturday Contest

The Basics
Omaha wraps up its South Dakota trip Saturday with a game in Vermillion against the Coyotes. Both teams are looking to split on the week and close the first half of league play with a win. The Mavericks dropped their last two to NDSU and SDSU, while USD has fallen in its last three league games.

Quick Hits
• The Mavericks used a second half surge to get within nine of the Jackrabbits Thursday night, but the ended up falling to SDSU on the road.
Frankie Fidler led Omaha with 13 points, while Marquel Sutton and JJ White each added 12 points.
• Fidler's double-figure scoring streak is now up to nine straight games following his team-high at SDSU.
Akol Arop and Tony Osburn had a productive night off the bench. Arop scored eight and grabbed a season-high eight rebounds. Osburn also recorded eight points on the night.
• Omaha rebounded from its St. Thomas loss with a home win vs. North Dakota last week. Fidler and Sutton led the Mavericks to the win with near double-doubles.
• Fidler recorded 17 points on 5-of-12 from the field with one three-pointer and 6-of-6 from the line. He grabbed eight rebounds, tallied two assists, two steals, and one block.
• Sutton added 16 points and recorded a career and team-high nine rebounds.
• Omaha shot over 50 percent from the field for the fifth time this season. Against the Fighting Hawks, the Mavericks went 27-of-50 to shoot 54 percent. The team's season high is 58.8 percent from the field set against Midland back on Dec. 13.
• Following the win, the Mavericks dropped Saturday's game to North Dakota State. Despite the loss, freshman guard Ja'Sean Glover poured in a career-high 16 points. He was perfect from the field and also matched his career-high five rebounds.
• White matched Glover's production with 16 points, while Fidler extended his double-figure scoring streak to eight games with 13 points.
• Glover's career-high came just a week after he scored 11 points in front of his home crowd at St. Thomas.
• Through the first 18 games this season, Omaha has three players averaging at least 10 ppg. Fidler leads the Mavericks with 13.2 ppg. He ranks 13th in the Summit League in overall scoring. In league only play, he ranks 10th at 16.1 ppg.
• Sutton sits at 16th overall in the Summit averaging 11.7 ppg, while White trails closly behind at 10.6 ppg and 24th in the league.
• Success from the free throw line continues for Omaha. As a team, they Mavericks are shooting over 78 percent ranking 11th in the nation. Fidler is shooting 90.1 percent ranking 17th in the NCAA.
• Head coach Chris Crutchfield has an 17-22 overall coaching record. It marks his second season as a head coach and first with the Mavericks.
Scouting the South Dakota Coyotes
South Dakota enters the weekend at 8-11 overall and 3-4 in the league. The Coyotes picked up three straight wins in league play against St. Thomas, Western Illinois, and North Dakota before dropping their last three. USD leads the league un three-point percentage shooting 39.6 percent from deep.
Kruz Perrott-Hunt leads the South Dakota offense averaging 13.7 ppg. He's shooting 39.3 percent from the field and over 37 percent from deep. Hunt also grabs 2.8 rpg and dishes out 2.1 apg. AJ Plitzuweit (11.7), Tasos Kamateros (11.3), and Paul Bruns (10.8) are also in double-figures. Plitzuweit and Kamateros are both threats from deep shooting over 40 percent from three-point range this season.
Eric Peterson is in his first season at the helm. The Coyotes are 8-11 on the year. 
All-Time Against South Dakota
The Coyotes lead the all-time series 53-46. The Mavericks dropped both meetings with USD last year.
