Mavericks Return Home To Play North Dakota

The Basics
Omaha returns to Baxter Arena Thursday night to take on the North Dakota Fighting Hawks. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. The Mavericks split last week's action with a win at Western Illinois and loss to St. Thomas. They look to even their league record at 3-3 with a win vs. an 0-4 North Dakota squad.

Quick Hits
• Four Mavericks scored double-figures at St. Thomas, but it was an effort that fell 12-points short of the Tommies.
Frankie Fidler led the charge with 19-points, which marked his sixth straight game in double-figures. He missed the double-double by one rebound finishing the night with a game-high nine boards.
JJ White added 17 points, while Ja'Sean Glover scored a career-high 11 points. Luke Jungers wrapped up the double-digit efforts with 10 points.
• For the first time since the 2020-21 season, Omaha earned a road win. The Mavericks were powered by a Fidler double-double. He scored 21 points and grabbed 10 boards. It marked Fidler's third game with at least 20 points this season.
Marquel Sutton (13), White (12), and Dylan Brougham (10) joined Fidler in double-figures.
• Omaha finished the month of December 2-5 overall with wins vs. Midland and Denver on its home court.
• Over the seven-game stretch, the Mavericks improved their shooting from three-point range. They increased their percentage from November by more than six percent.
• The Mavericks recorded at least 10 threes in two games last month, including a season-best 11 makes vs. Midland.
Kyle Luedtke led the way in the 104-72 win going 7-of-7 from the arc.
• Omaha tallied another 10 makes vs. Oral Roberts. This time freshman Jungers found success sinking 5-of-5 from deep.
• Jungers has been a go-to three-point shooter for the Mavericks all season long. He's found his stride in league play and is shooting 50 percent from the arc. It is the second best three-point percentage in the league.
• After another successful weekend at the line, the Mavericks and Fidler rank in the nation's top-10. As a team, Omaha is shooting 78 percent ranking 10th, while Fidler shoots 92 percent at the line for 10th.
• Omaha ranks in the top-five teams in several categories in for league play only games. The Mavericks are first in free throw percentage (83.8), second in field goal percentage (47.2), third in three-point percentage (38.6) and points per game (75.4), and fourth in offensive rebounds per game (8.6).
• Fidler leads Omaha scoring 13.0 ppg. In conference only games, he is averaging 17.2 ppg which ranks ninth.
• White also ranks in the top-15 scoring 13.2 ppg in league play.
• Head coach Chris Crutchfield has an 16-20 overall coaching record. It marks his second season as a head coach and first with the Mavericks.

Scouting the North Dakota Fighting Hawks
North Dakota enters the week at 6-11 overall and 0-4 in conference play. The Fighting Hawks lost their last two Summit League games by a total of three points after the Coyotes edged them by two and South Dakota State escaped by one. UND has wins against North Central (Minn.), Cal State Fullerton, Utah Tech, Wisconsin-Stout, Elon, and Incarnate Word this season. Two of those wins came on the road, and they sit at 2-5 away from their home court.

BJ Omot leads the North Dakota offense averaging 11.1 ppg. He's the lone Fighting Hawk in double-figures this season. Omot is shooting 41 percent from the field and 31.7 percent from deep. He also leads the team with 0.8 blocks per game. Omot strung together a six-game double-figure scoring streak earlier this season, which was highlighted by a season-high 18 points vs. Wisconsin-Stout.

Paul Sather is in his fourth season at the helm of North Dakota and has compiled a 36-71 overall record with the Fighting Hawks. He has 18 years of head coaching experience under his belt with a 318-22 career record.

All-Time Against North Dakota
The Fighting Hawks hold a 47-42 advantage in the all-time series. The teams split last season's meetings. Omaha beat North Dakota 98-82 at home with six players scoring at least 10 points. UND took the game on its home court, but Frankie Fidler was still able to drop a career-high 37 points in the loss.
