Mavericks Face Lindenwood in First Road Match

LEADING OFF
The Mavericks continue the opening weekend of 2022 play with a road match at Lindenwood. Omaha fell in its opener to Oklahoma State, 2-1, and look to rebound in St. Charles, Missouri. Kickoff between the Mavericks and Lions is set for 1 p.m.

QUICK KICKS
Grace Ostergaard helped the Mavericks to a 1-0 lead in the first half vs. Oklahoma State in the 2022 season opener. The Cowgirls responded with two goals in the second half for the win.
Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen made five stops in goal for Omaha. 
• The Mavericks were tabbed third in the Summit League Preseason Poll for the second straight season. 
• Omaha posted a 9-8-2 record last seasons. The nine wins were the most wins in a single-season since the Division I transition.
Sophia Green and Ostergaard were named Preseason Players to Watch.
• Green led the Mavericks with 13 points on six goals and one assist last year. She closed the regular season with a four-match scoring streak.
• Ostergaard collected 2021 All-Summit Second Team honors. She tallied five points on one goal and three assists.
• Head coach Tim Walters enters his sixth season at the helm. Over the last five years, he's recorded 36 wins on the pitch, including two Summit League semifinal wins and championship appearances.
• The Mavericks return eight starters and 15 total letterwinners from the 2021 season. 
• Between the pipes for Omaha returns junior goalkeeper Reedtz. Reedtz made 11 starts in goal last season and posted five shutouts. She went 4-4-2 on the year with a .91 GAA and a .816 save percentage.
• Eleven newcomers join the 2022 squad. The incoming class is made up of 10 freshman and one sophomore transfer.  
• Beginning this season, if the score at the end of regulation is 0-0, the teams will earn a draw in their record. Overtime will no longer be played in the regular season.

SCOUTING THE LINDENWOOD LIONS
The 2022 season marks the first year of Division I competition for Lindenwood. The Lions joined the OVC at the conclusion of 2022 spring action. In their season opener, the Lions down Southern Illinois, 2-0. Lindenwood went 4-11-1 in the fall of 2021 narrowly missing the GLVC tournament with a 4-9-1 record.

LIONS TO WATCH
• Mia Corrigan put two shots on goal vs. SIU Thursday night. She found the back of the net for one of the Lions' two goals. She made the start and logged 53 minutes on the pitch. Corrigan finished the 2021 season with one goal and one assist over 16 appearances.
• Rachel Jackson scored on her lone attempt of the match. This marks her first career goal.
• In goal, Sam Blazek made three stops. She recorded the shutout and earned her first win of the year. Blazek logged over 648 minutes last season. She posted a 1.39 GAA with 27 saves.
