OMAHA, Neb. – Head men's basketball coach
Chris Crutchfield announced the 2022-23 non-conference schedule Tuesday morning. The 14-game slate includes one exhibition, four home games, five power-five opponents, and four 2021-22 NCAA Tournament opponents.
The Mavericks will welcome Mid-American Christian on Nov. 1 for an exhibition at Baxter Arena.
Omaha opens the regular season with the 2021-22 national champions in Kansas. The Mavericks and Jayhawks will tipoff the year on Nov. 7. Omaha will then play at Nebraska on Nov. 10.
The Mavericks play the next two games at home. The home opener is slated for Nov. 13 vs. Idaho followed by Ball State on Nov. 16.
Omaha opens a seven-game road trip at Iowa on Nov. 21. The Hawkeyes upset Purdue last season to be crowned the Big Ten champions for the third time in program history.
Thanksgiving will be spent in Niceville, Florida with the Mavericks participating in the Emerald Coast Classic. Omaha will play Louisiana Monroe on Nov. 25 to open the tournament. On Nov. 26, the Mavericks will take on either Southern or Loyola (MD).
On their way out of Florida, the Mavericks will play at Mississippi State to wrap up November's action.
December tips off at Texas A&M – Corpus Christi on Dec. 3. The final two games of the road stretch will be played at Drake (Dec. 7) and Montana State (Dec. 10). Corpus-Christi and Montana State clinched their respective conference titles for automatic bids to the big dance.
Omaha returns to Baxter Arena Dec. 13 hosting Midland before hitting the road again for a quick trip to Iowa State on Dec. 21. The Cyclones received an at-large bid and took their post-season run to the Sweet 16.
The Summit League portion of the schedule is anticipated to be released mid-July.
