Women's Soccer Announces 2022 Schedule

Jun 20, 2022

OMAHA, Neb. – Head women's soccer coach Tim Walters released the 2022 schedule Monday afternoon. The Mavericks will play nine matches at Caniglia Field this fall, which includes two exhibition matches in August. The home schedule features matches against Big 10, Big 12, and SEC opponents.

The slate opens on Sunday, August 7 with a home exhibition match vs. Nebraska. The Mavericks downed the Huskers, 1-0, on the road last season in regular season play. Kickoff between the rivals is set for 6 p.m. at Caniglia Field.

"As always, we will continue to challenge our group in the non-conference season to help prepare us for Summit League play," said Walters. "I'm really happy with the quality of opponents we get to play both at Caniglia and on the road. I think it speaks volumes about our facilities and our city that we have teams from the SEC, BIG 10, and BIG 12 coming to Caniglia to compete this fall. Last year, I was so proud of the way our team attacked a challenging schedule, and I'm looking forward to seeing them do it again in 2022."

The Mavericks will then host Drake on Aug. 10 for their final exhibition match of the 2022 season for a 6 p.m. start time.

The regular season kicks off on August 18 as Omaha hosts Oklahoma State. The Mavericks then take the next two matches on the road with a trip to Lindenwood and Northern Iowa.

August's action wraps up with a home match vs. Missouri at 3 p.m. on the 28th.

The beginning of September starts with four games on the road. A trip to Colorado on Sept. 1 and 4 kicks off the action. The Mavericks will play at Big Sky champions Northern Colorado to open the trip followed by a match at Colorado.

Omaha then heads to Minnesota on Sept. 8. The Mavericks and Gophers played to a 0-0 draw last season at Caniglia. Omaha finished the 2021 season 1-0-1 against Big Ten opponents. The road trip concludes with a quick visit in Ames, Iowa vs. Iowa State on Sept. 15.

Omaha concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule on Sept. 18 with a home match vs. Air Force. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

The Mavericks open Summit League play with North Dakota and North Dakota State on Sept. 23 and 25. Omaha will also host St. Thomas and Western Illinois for league action in October.

Omaha will play conference games at South Dakota, South Dakota State, Denver, Kansas City, and Oral Roberts. Regular season play wraps up on October 23 in Tulsa.

The league tournament has been expanded to six teams beginning this year. It will take place over the course of two weekends. The quarterfinals and semifinals will take place Oct. 28-30 and the championship match will take place Saturday, Nov. 5.  The locations will be based on seeding with the top two seeds hosting two games on the opening weekend and the highest-remaining seed hosting the title game.
