Mavericks Host Roos For Final Home Series

OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha softball closes the 2022 home season with Kansas City this weekend. The Mavericks and Roos will play a doubleheader Saturday at 2 p.m. followed by a single game Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Omaha will honor five seniors between the games, as well as recognize Connie Claussen in honor of the 50th anniversary of Title IX.

  • Omaha swept its second league series of the season at South Dakota last weekend. The Mavericks outscored the Coyotes 27-5 over the three games.
  • Kamryn Meyer and Jamie White took home the Summit League weekly awards for their efforts at USD. Meyer was tabbed Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week and fifth honor of the season. White earned her second of the season.
  • Meyer broke the single-game strikeout record for the second time in a week. She retired 19 Yotes in game one of the series after striking out 18 at St. Thomas.
  • Meyer finished with two wins, a save, a .88 ERA, and 38 strikeouts over 16 innings of work.
  • Meyer is just 29 strikeouts away from breaking the single-season strikeout record.
  • White hit .500 on the weekend with a 1.083 slugging percentage. She finished with six hits, including two homers and a double. White posted eight RBI and four runs scored.
  • White leads the Mavericks and is tied fifth in the Summit League with eight homers. Her 26 RBI also leads the team and ranks ninth overall in the conference.
  • White and Izzy Eltze ranks in the top-five players in batting average this season. White is hitting a career-best .376 this season, which ranks third in the league. Eltze comes in at fifth in the conference hitting .366.
  • Meyer continues to rank nationally in several statistic catgeories. She is second with 12.4 strikeouts per seven innings, fourth with nine shutouts, ninth with 232 total strikeouts, fifth in hits allowed per seven innings with 3.3, and 12th with a 1.23 ERA.
  • In between Saturday's games, Omaha will honor its five seniors - White, Lexi Burkhardt, Alexa Sedlak, Sydney Hampton, and Sierra Leonetti.

Scouting Kansas City
Kansas City is 10-30 overall and 6-8 in league play. The Roos currently rank fifth in the league standings behind South Dakota and North Dakota State. In the non-conference portion of its schedule, Kansas City faced stacked line up of opponents with 10 games against ranked teams or teams that were receiving votes. The Roos lead the league with seven doubles and they rank sixth hitting .221 on the year.

Roos to Watch
  • Kloe Hilbrenner leads the Roos and ranks fourth in the Summit League hitting .368 this season. She has 50 hits, including 10 doubles, four triples, and five homers. Over 40 games played, she's compiled 20 runs, 19 RBI, and 27 stolen bases.
  • In the circle, Mia Hoveland leads the Roos with 19 starts. She has 10 complete games in the books and holds a 4.85 ERA. Hoveland is 5-13 on the season with three shutouts and 80 strikeouts.

Series History
Omaha leads the all-time series 10-6. The Mavericks won three of the four regular season games. Omaha also downed Kansas City in the Summit League semifinals last season, 2-1. Eltze and Burkhardt each tallied a hit, while Meyer and Hampton split time in the circle.
