Fresh off a road sweep at Western Illinois, Omaha steps away from Summit League play this week.
The Mavericks (19-18) will play four nonconference games against Big Ten competition as they face Nebraska in Lincoln on Wednesday before traveling to Penn State for a weekend series starting Friday.
Omaha has topped the Huskers (15-23) twice in their three previous meetings this spring, which each team winning on its home field. The Mavericks and Nebraska traded walk-off wins on consecutive days in mid-March, then Omaha edged the Huskers 6-5 at Tal Anderson Field in their third meeting on April 6.
The fourth and final contest, at Haymarket Park in Lincoln, is set for 6:32 p.m. and will be broadcast on Nebraska Public Media. It will be the seventh game against a Big Ten team for the Mavericks this season.
Omaha has gone 4-2 in those matchups so far. In addition to beating Nebraska twice, the Mavericks claimed a weekend series against Big Ten-leading Rutgers by taking two of three games in late March.
After facing Penn State (17-20) three times this weekend, Omaha has a road date with Minnesota scheduled for May 17, which would be its 11th matchup against the Big Ten, if all games are played.
