OMAHA, Neb. - A 10-game road trip comes to an end this weekend with a three-game series at South Dakota. The Mavericks and Coyotes are tied in the league standings at 8-4 and will battle for second place. They are both just two games behind the league leading South Dakota State squad.

- The Mavericks picked up a 9-3 win over crosstown rival Creighton earlier this week. It was an all around team effort on the field Tuesday.

- Meyer picked up her 14th win and ninth shutout of the year in game three. She retired another eight batters in four innings of work. Meyer's efforts secured her fourth Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
- Izzy Eltze had a dominant weekend at the plate. She led off games one and two with solo home runs on the first pitch of each game.
- Johnson made the most of her first career start in game three vs. the Tommies. She went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs and a RBI.
- Meyer continues to rank in the top-25 nationally. Her nine shutouts sits third, 3.52 hits allowed per seven innings ranks eighth, 11.2 strikeouts per seven innings ranks 13th, and 1.31 ERA ranks 17th. She is the league leader in all of those categories.
- Meyer also leads the league with 192 strikeouts. She ranks 18th nationally.
- Her 192 strikeouts makes her the program's Division I single-season record holder. The previous record was 180 set in 2014.
- The Mavericks have 12 shutouts so far this season. They're second behind South Dakota State with 14 and rank 15th in the NCAA.

The Coyotes are 23-17 overall and 8-4 in league play. South Dakota and Omaha are tied in the league standings for second place. They are the only two teams to hand South Dakota State a loss this season. USD has earned league wins vs. SDSU, NDSU, St. Thomas, and North Dakota so far this spring. The Yotes are hitting .286 as a team, which ranks second in the league. Their 3.41 ERA sits fourth.
Coyotes to Watch
- Aleesia Sainz leads the Coyotes hitting .336 on the year. She ranks sixth in the Summit League. Sainz has 37 hits on the year including a team-leading 10 doubles and 11 homers. She has 38 RBI and 28 runs scored.
