Softball Heads To St. Thomas

OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks continue their road trip at St. Thomas this weekend. They will play a doubleheader vs. the Tommies on Friday beginning at noon. A single game will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday in St. Paul.

  • Omaha sits in second place in the league standings with a 6-3 record. The Mavericks are one game behind South Dakota State and one game ahead of South Dakota.

Meyer has 162 strikeouts ranking first in the league and 21st in the nation, while her 11.2 strikeouts per seven innings ranks first in the league and 12th in the NCAA.
  • Sydney Ross has caught 10 batters stealing this season. It's the second most in the Summit League and ranks 26th in the country.

Scouting St. Thomas
The Tommies are 9-26 overall and 4-5 in league play heading into this weekend's action. Their first Division I win came in their season opener vs. Ball State. UST downed BSU, 6-5. The Tommies have earned league wins against Western Illinois, Kansas City, and South Dakota, and they sit in sixth place in the standings.

Tommies To Watch
  • Brooke Ellestad leads the Tommie and league at the plate hitting .422. She has 46 hits over 109 at-bats. Ellestad has recorded two doubles, two triples, six homers, 25 RBI, and 24 runs scored. She also leads the Tommies on the base paths with six stolen bases.
  • Christina Crawford has been UST's go-to in the circle appearing in 20 games and making 16 starts. She is 5-7 on the year with a 5.66 ERA and 72 strikeouts.

Series History
This will be the first meeting between Omaha and St. Thomas.
