MADRID, Spain - Former Omaha women's soccer player
Andrea Daves inked a professional contract with Madrid Club Futbol Femenino. She is the program's first player to sign professionally.
Daves currently plays for the club's B side, Reto Iberdrola Sur, in the second division.
"I am so happy for Andrea as I know this has been a dream of hers for a long time," said head coach
Tim Walters. "Not many players get to sign professional contracts, but to be able to do it in a city that she loves, for a club that she loves, and so close to her family is just so awesome for her."
Daves was a five-year member of Omaha women's soccer appearing in 90 matches and making 68 starts for the Mavericks. Daves posted eight goals, 14 assists, 71 shots, and 34 shots on goal over her career.
The Denver, Colorado native is the program's Division I leader in career assists. She tallied six as a sophomore, three as a freshman and fifth year, and two as a senior.
While at Omaha, Daves was a two-time Academic All-League selection, Summit League honor roll member, and named to the Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence. Daves earned undergraduate degrees in Neuroscience and Spanish.
"Our hope is that she is the first of many. We want players here that are constantly driven to get better and who want to be professionals after they get degrees."
