Nov 17, 2022

OMAHA, Neb. - Head men's basketball coach Chris Crutchfield announced the signing of two future Mavericks on National Signing Day last week. Both Marcel Bryant and Grant Stubblefield will join the Omaha squad next season.

Marcel Bryant | Forward | Round Rock, Texas | Cedar Ridge
Bryant is a two-year letter winner out of Cedar Ridge high school in Round Rock, Texas. In his debut season with the Raiders, Bryant was tabbed the Newcomer of the Year. He followed up the honor with a plethora of accolades as a senior. Bryant was tabbed the Class 6A MVP, Class 6A First Team, an Austin Area Player of the Year and Regional Player of the year nomination, and was selected to Austin vs. San Antonio All-Star Game.

Crutchfield on Bryant: "Marcel is a big and strong athletic forward with a versatile skill package. He should be a plug and play player because of his size and strength. Marcel will help strengthen our frontline. He comes from a family of educators, and we are looking forward to coaching him."

Bryant on Omaha: "I chose Omaha because I love what the coaching staff and school has for me. They really stood out to me. I'm in love with the environment and the people there. When I visited, I knew it was a place I could call home."

Grant Stubblefield | Guard | Overland Park, Kan. | Blue Valley Northwest
Stubblefield is a three-year letterwinner and two sport athlete at Blue Valley Northwest where he plays basketball and football. As a junior, Stubblefield helped his team to a state runner-up finish. He garnered 6A Player of the Year, First Team All-State, and league MVP honors as a junior. Stubblefield helped his team break a school record for most consecutive wins as a junior.

Crutchfield on Stubblefield: "Grant is a strong explosive guard that can really get down hill to the basket. He has great vision and underrated savvy for the game. He is a dual sport athlete with great toughness. Grant has a great family, and we are so excited to have him join us."

Stubblefield on Omaha: "I chose Omaha because it feels like I never really left home when I'm there. The people I'm surrounded by have the same goals and visions of winning and leaving a mark on the basketball program that no one will ever forget locally and nationally!"
