Mavericks Set For NCAA Tournament First Round

LEADING OFF
After winning their first ever Summit League Championship, Omaha heads to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the Division I era of the program. The Mavericks learned their fate earlier this week and will play at Notre Dame in the opening round. The Fighting Irish fell in the ACC semifinals to Florida State but earned an at-large bid and No. 1 overall seed.

QUICK KICKS
• The Omaha women's soccer team became the school's first women's program to clinch a berth in the NCAA Tournament as a Division I team.
• The Mavericks and Golden Eagles played to a 0-0 draw through two overtime periods Saturday. Omaha prevailed, 3-1, in PKs and took home their first ever Summit League Title.
Emma Konsmo made six saves and earned MVP honors, while Grace Ostergaard, Emilie Erland, and Sophia Green were tabbed All-tournament.
• Omaha beat South Dakota State 1-0 in the Summit League semifinals last weekend to advance to the championship match for the third time with head coach Tim Walters.
• SDSU was the lone remaining unbeaten team in the nation with a 13-0-5 record heading into the match. They had the longest home undefeated streak in the NCAA at 38 straight matches in Brookings. The Jacks' last loss on their home turf was to the Mavericks in the league semifinals back in 2018.
Grace Ostergaard scored the game winner in the 17th minute.
• The Mavericks downed the Fighting Hawks 1-0 in the Summit League quarterfinal. Erland scored on a corner kick assisted by Grace Crockett and Sophia Green in the 82nd minute.
• Omaha earned its third straight trip to the Summit League and fifth overall following a 1-1 draw at Kansas City. A 1-0 shutout at Oral Roberts clinched the third seed.
• Green tied the match vs. the Roos, while Marissa Gohr netted her third goal of the season vs. ORU for the game winner.
• Five Mavericks earned all-league recognition Thursday morning. Regan Zimmers was named first team, while Grace Ostergaard claimed second team honors for the third straight season. Jordyn West is an honorable mention, and Konsmo and Lindsey Birch are newcomer selections.

SCOUTING THE NOTRE DAME FIGHTING IRISH
Notre Dame is heading to the NCAA Tournament for the 28th time in the last 30 years and looks to capture its fourth national title. The Fighting Irish earned the No. 1 seed for the first time since 2008 and will host the first round. Notre Dame has only lost five matches on its home turf since 2019. The Irish are 14-2-3 heading into the match-up. In the ACC semifinals, UND played to a 3-3 draw with Florida State and fell in penalty kicks.

FIGHTING IRISH TO WATCH
• Korbin Albert leads the Irish with 30 points on 13 goals and four assists. In her last outing, Alberts recorded her first career hat trick with all three of UND's goals vs. Florida State.
• Olivia Wingate has 27 points ranking second on the team. She has 11 goals and five assists. She also notched a hat trick earlier this year in a 4-1 win vs. Wisconsin. Wingate has seven matches this season with at least two points recorded.
• Mackenzie Wood has played 14 matches in goal logging 1,300 minutes. Wood has a .62 goals against average allowing only nine past her this season. She has 35 saves and sits at 10-1-3 on the year.

This is the first ever meeting between the Mavericks and Fighting Irish.
