Women's Tennis Sets Sight's on Spring Season After Wrapping Up Fall Campaign at Drake Hidden Duels

Oct 31, 2022

The Omaha Women's Tennis team wrapped up their Fall schedule last weekend with the Drake Hidden Duels in Des Moines, Iowa. The Mavericks finished the weekend 2-7 in Doubles and 6-12 in Singles.

"Always fun to compete as a team in the Fall. The hidden dual format is such a great way to end the Fall season," Omaha head coach Adam Summitt said. "This weekend gave us a lot of chances to look at players in different lineups, doubles partners and against a different opponent every day."

On Friday, Omaha was swept in Doubles by Creighton but followed up by going 3-3 in Singles against UW-Milwaukee.

"To start, it was a nice sight to see Alexia Di Giulio back out on the court. She has really attacked her rehab on her shoulder and got cleared to play some doubles matches. On Friday with Milwaukee, we competed really well. Won two 3-set matches. Milwaukee is tough, they are very deep and competed at a high level," Summitt said.

It was a challenging Saturday for the Mavericks as they went 0-3 in Doubles against Drake and 1-6 in Singles with Creighton. On Sunday, the Mavericks bounced back with a 2-1 record in Doubles against UW-Milwaukee and went 2-4 with Drake in Singles.

"We finished the weekend playing Drake in singles. We have never been able to take more than one match off them and we were able to come away with two singles wins. That is always great to see to compete with a team like Drake," Summitt said. "As always, there are areas we can continue to improve in. However, after a long Fall season, I know the players are looking forward to having some time off before we kick it back into full gear. Already looking forward to January."
