Omaha Falls in Home Debut at Tal Anderson Field

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha baseball team grabbed an early lead but could not hold on as the Mavericks fell 10-3 vs. Creighton in the debut of Tal Anderson Field on Friday afternoon.

The Mavericks fall to 3-4 on the season while the Bluejays improve to 3-2.

How It Happened
  • Harrison Denk drew a walk in the first at-bat for a Maverick in the new ballpark before Chris Esposito's RBI triple brought Denk home, plating the first run at Tal Anderson Field and giving Omaha the early lead.
  • Ryan Doran followed with an RBI single in the next at-bat to double the Maverick lead in the bottom of the first.
  • A Maverick fielding error with the bases load and two outs in the fourth inning allowed two Bluejays to touch home and tie the game at two.
  • Creighton grabbed a two-run lead in the fifth after a hit by pitch and walk with the bases loaded.
  • Breyden Eckhout reached base in the bottom of the fifth after being hit by the pitch before sprinting home on an RBI double by Mike Boeve.
  • The Bluejays got the run back in the sixth with an RBI single before a pair of RBI hits in the seventh expanded the CU lead to 8-3.
  • CU added two runs in the eighth with a two-run homer to post the 10-3 victory.

  • Doran and Boeve led the Mavericks with two hits apiece while Esposito and Denk had one hit.
