Omaha Falls to Iowa State, Arkansas on Saturday

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Omaha softball team lost a pair of games at the Woo Pig Classic Saturday at Bogle Park.  Iowa State scored five runs in the final two innings to defeat Omaha 6-5 in the opener, and Arkansas earned a 3-1 win in the second game of the day.  The losses drop the Mavericks to 12-18.

The Cyclones (18-15) scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth and hit a solo home run in the seventh for the victory.

Omaha took an early 1-0 lead on Natalie Mostek's leadoff home run.  The Mavericks added four runs in the top of the second.  Jessica Nelson and Sarrah Mains each hit one-out singles and then pulled off a double steal to put runners in scoring position.  Mostek launched a 1-2 offering over the fence in right-center field.  Following a pitching change, Kelly Pattison hit a two-out single and came in to score on Savannah Fisher's RBI double to right that made the score 5-0.

Iowa State got on the board in the bottom of the second.  With two outs, Nychole Antillon was hit by a pitch and moved to third on a pair of Omaha errors.  An infield hit by Kaila Koncz allowed Antillon to score and make it a 5-1 game.

Omaha starter Sydney Hampton allowed one hit over the next three innings.  ISU's first three batters reached and cut the lead to 5-3 in the bottom of the sixth.  The Mavericks were able to retire the next two batters.  Konz tied the game at 5-5 with a two-run homer to center.

In the bottom of the seventh, Sydney Stites hit the first pitch she saw over the left field fence to give ISU the 6-5 win.

Mostek went 2-for-4 at the plate with two home runs and four RBI to lead the Mavericks.  Fisher added a 2-for-3 effort with a double and an RBI.  Mains also had a multi-hit game with a stolen base and a run scored.

Hampton (8-8) pitched a complete game in the loss, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits with a strikeout.  Brianna Weilbacher (8-4) picked up the win in relief, throwing 5.2 innings allowing one run on four hits with five strikeouts.

Arkansas 3, Omaha 1
Lexi Burchfield went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored to lead the Mavericks.  Kelly Pattison added a base hit with an RBI.  Aubrey Hacke and Natalie Mostek each had base knocks.

Hacke (3-6) pitched a complete game in the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks with a strikeout.  Arkansas' Autumn Storms (8-3) earned the win, allowing one unearned run on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts in 7.0 innings of work.

The Razorbacks got on the board in the bottom of the third.  Parr led off with a walk and moved to second on a Hacke throwing error.  McEwen singled to left center allowing Parr to score and give Arkansas a 1-0 lead.

Arkansas tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fifth.  After the first two batters of the inning reached, Diaz hit a two-run single to center to make it 3-0.

Burchfield led off the top of the sixth with a single and moved to second on a throwing error by the third baseman.  Pattison then hit an RBI single to center to make it 3-1.  Storms settled down and retired the next six batters she faced to end the game without further damage.
