Omaha Drops 4-0 Decision to Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Omaha softball team lost a 4-0 decision to Arkansas on Sunday morning in the final game of the Woo Pig Classic.  With the loss, the Mavericks are now 12-19 on the season, while the Razorbacks improved to 21-5.

Arkansas got 5.0 shutout innings from Marry Haff (12-2), who earned the win after allowing one hit with two walks and six strikeouts.  The loss went to Laura Roecker (1-4), who went 6.0 innings in her start and allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out four.

Loren Krzysko was 1-for-3 with a grand slam to lead Arkansas offensively.  Kelly Pattison went 1-for-2 for Omaha.

Hannah McEwen and Ashley Diaz hit back-to-back one-out singles in the bottom half of the first.  After getting the second out of the frame, Roecker walked Aly Manzo.  Krzysko then sent a 2-2 pitch over the left field fence.

Omaha put runners on first and second in the top of the second, but Haff was able to record a strikeout to end the threat.

Roecker allowed one baserunner over the next two innings before the Razorbacks put runners on second and third in the fourth inning.  The Mavericks were able to work around the threat and get out of the inning without allowing a run.

Haff and reliever Autumn Storms retired 12 straight before Savannah Fisher walked in the top of the seventh.  Storms regrouped to retire the next three batters to secure the victory.
