VERMILLION, S.D. -- The Omaha men's basketball team played its final regular-season road game of the year Saturday afternoon, falling 79-64 to South Dakota at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
Leaders for Omaha
Four Mavericks scored in double figures, led by
Mitch Hahn's 16 points alongside a team-high seven rebounds.
Daniel Norl added 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting, followed by 13 points from
KJ Robinson, who also had two rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals.
Matt Pile rounded it out with 10 points and six boards.
Leaders for South Dakota
South Dakota got a game-leading 28 points from Matt Mooney, who hit 11-of-20 from the field. Trey Burch-Manning had another 15 points with eight rebounds, and Nick Fuller posted a double-double on 11 points and 10 boards.
Team Stats
Omaha found itself in an uphill battle offensively, shooting .353 (24-of-68) to USD's .474 (27-of-57) from the floor. The Coyotes also had the advantage at the stripe, .793 (23-of-29) to .692 (9-of-13) and outrebounded the Mavericks 44-34.
Inside the First Half
The game opened to a 6-4 Omaha edge by the first media timeout, but USD responded with a 14-2 run to shoot ahead by 10. The Mavericks pulled within three after a 7-0 run, but the Coyotes worked out from there, and back-to-back threes late helped push it to a 39-24 lead by the break.
Inside the Second Half
USD, which closed the first half on an 8-0 run, extended it to 15-0 in the second stanza. Omaha was quiet until a three-point play by Robinson stopped the drought and gave him 10 points as the Mavericks' first in double figures. USD then took its largest lead at 62-38 with 8:25 left. Omaha managed to whittle it down to 71-59 after outscoring the Coyotes 21-9 from 8:17 to 7:14, bolstered by nine points from Norl.
Noting Today's Game
-Omaha is now 9-19 (4-8 Summit League) on the season. South Dakota, on a six-game win streak, improves to 24-6 (11-2).

Daniel Norl is a perfect 21-of-21 at the free throw line since Jan. 25. He has also scored in double figures in 12 of his last 13 games.
