BROOKINGS, S.D. -- The Omaha men's basketball team opened the second round of Summit League play Tuesday evening, falling 80-60 to conference leader South Dakota State at Frost Arena.

Zach Jackson's ninth 20-point scoring performance of the season came on a team-leading 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting with seven rebounds and a steal. Sophomore
KJ Robinson added 12 points with two boards and an assist, and senior
Daniel Norl had 11 points and three rebounds.
Junior
Mitch Hahn tallied seven points and a team-high 11 rebounds with two assists, a steal and a block. Freshman
Matt Pile, making his first career start, added four points, six caroms, an assist and two blocks.
Leaders for South Dakota State
Mike Daum led the Jackrabbits with 35 points and 18 rebounds, shooting 15-of-28. Tevin King (14) and Skyler Flatten (12) also scored in double figures, with King 6-of-7 from the floor.
Team Stats
SDSU shot .462 (30-of-65) to Omaha's .377 (23-of-61). The two teams finished with 38 rebounds apiece, and Omaha carried a slight 11-10 edge on the offensive end. SDSU committed just five turnovers for the night, which tied for the fewest of any Maverick opponent this season.
Inside the First Half
South Dakota State led from the start, opening to an 8-0 lead 3:43 minutes in. The Mavericks pulled within three on a Jackson layup with 12:28 left, but SDSU pushed ahead by 13 by the under-eight media break.
A 6-0 Omaha spurt trimmed it to 30-23 with less than five minutes to play, but the Jacks built back up a 44-28 advantage by the intermission. SDSU, which shot .500 as a team, was led by 20 points and eight rebounds in 17 minutes from Daum, who hit the final shot of the half just before the buzzer.
Inside the Second Half
Jackson, who was limited to six points in the first half, came out in the second stanza to shoot 6-of-8 with a pair of threes for 14 more points. Omaha and SDSU shot an identical .419 (13-of-31), but Daum poured in 15 points and grabbed 10 boards along the way. The Jacks took their largest lead less than five minutes in, going up 58-34. They led by at least 16 the rest of the way.
Noting Tonight's Game
-Omaha is now 7-17 (2-6 Summit League) on the season, while South Dakota State improves to 19-6 (7-1).
-The Jackrabbits have won 17 straight home games.
-Jackson has scored in double figures in 18 straight contests since Nov. 25.
-Norl's 11 points marked his ninth consecutive double-figure scoring effort since Dec. 30.
-Tonight's starting five of Robinson, Norl, Jackson, Hahn and Pile marks Omaha's sixth different lineup of the year.
