OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 Summit League decision to Oral Roberts on Friday at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center.

With the loss, the Mavericks are now 6-10 (0-1 Summit League) overall, while the Golden Eagles improved to 8-9 (2-0 Summit League).

Oral Roberts got off to an early lead by winning two of three doubles matches.  Senior Colin Buckley and freshman Razvan Grigorescu won their match at No. 1, 7-6 (4).  Senior John Ellis and sophomore Matt Dunn fell in a tiebreaker 7-6 (3) at No. 3.

Grigorescu got UNO on the board with a straight-set win over Barnabas Koncz at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 7-5.  ORU won matches at No. 3 and No. 4 for a 3-1 lead.

Freshman Nathan Reekie put the Mavericks back on track with a split-set victory at No. 2.  Reekie dropped the first set to Jan Pehnec 6-4, and then stormed back to win the final two sets 7-5 and 6-2.

Freshman Louis-Jonas Heizlsperger evened the match at 3-3 with a thrilling three-set win at No. 5.  Oral Roberts' Michael Sosnowski took the first set 6-0.  Heizlsperger then won the second set 6-4 and claimed the match with a 7-6 (7-4) victory in the deciding set.

ORU's Alvaro Santamaria was able to slip past sophomore Alex Woodward in a thrilling third-set tiebreaker to the Golden Eagles the 4-3 win.

Omaha will have a quick turnaround as the Mavericks host South Dakota State on Sunday, April 2, at 1 p.m.
