FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -  The Omaha men's tennis team returned to the courts on Saturday evening dropping a doubleheader to Arkansas.  The Mavericks fell in the opener 5-0 and lost the nightcap 5-0.  UNO dropped to 5-8 (0-0 Summit League) on the season, while Arkansas is now 10-8.

Omaha returns to action on Tuesday, March 21, visiting St. Thomas University.  First serve is set for 2 p.m. in Miami Gardens, Fla.  Links to live stats when available can be found on OMavs.com

In the first match, the Razorbacks jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a pair of doubles wins.  Senior John Ellis and sophomore Matt Dunn lost a 6-2 decision to Johan den Toom and Branch Terrell at No. 2.  Freshman Razvan Grigorescu and senior Colin Buckley fell 6-3 to Adam Sanjurjo and Oscar Mesquida at No. 1.

In singles action, Omaha lost straight set matches at No. 3 and No. 6.  Grigorescu, the No. 57 player in the country, dropped a split set match to No. 24 Jose Salazar.  Grigorescu won the first set 6-4, but lost the second 7-5 and then fell in the third set super-tiebreaker 1-0 (10-5).

The Arkansas pairing of Salazar and Juan Marino defeated freshman Nathan Reekie and Alex Woodward at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, to open the second match.   

In singles play, Reekie and Buckley lost by identical 6-0, 6-1 scores at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively.  Sophomore Alex Woodward also fell by the same 6-0, 6-1 score at No. 5.  Freshman Luke Moorhead dropped a hard-fought match at No. 6 singles to Austin Robles.  Moorhead won the first set 6-2, but fell 6-1 and 6-0 in the final two sets.
