Rostampour Joins Cape Breton in Canada's NBL

OMAHA, Neb. -- Former Omaha men's basketball player Mike Rostampour has embarked on his second season as a professional, as he signed a contract last month to play for the Cape Breton Highlanders in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. Cape Breton is in its inaugural season in the first division of the National Basketball League of Canada.

Rostampour has played 10 games so far with Cape Breton, averaging 6.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest, the latter of which ranks 19th in the league. He had a standout performance on Feb. 3, posting a double-double with 16 points and 18 rebounds against the Saint John Riptide.

Rostampour began his professional career in 2015-16, playing one season with Slovakia's BC Prievidza, which won the Slovak Extraliga championship.

A forward from West St. Paul, Minn., Rostampour was a two-year starter and a three-year member of the Omaha program from 2012 to 2015. As a senior, he was named All-Summit Honorable Mention and averaged 10.2 points and a team-best 7.7 rebounds per game. Rostampour also led the Summit League in offensive rebounds and ranked second in the conference for rebounds per game and total boards.
