Box Score OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha baseball team saw its home series with Oral Roberts evened at one game apiece Friday afternoon, falling 7-2 at the Ballpark at Boys Town. The Mavericks are now 27-26 (17-12 Summit League), while the Golden Eagles improve to 34-17 (22-7 Summit League).
ORU starter Nick Wood (6-2) earned the win, limiting Omaha to two runs on six hits with no walks and three strikeouts over 5.1 innings. Junior left-hander
Sam Murphy (4-5) was dealt the loss, surrendering five runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out six in 5.1 innings of work.

Cole Gruber (2-for-3) and sophomore
Adam Caniglia (2-for-4) each had a pair of hits and an RBI for the afternoon.
Oral Roberts struck first, though, posting two runs on three hits in the top of the second inning. Noah Cummings led off with a single up the middle, and he later scored on a two-out RBI double to left center by Michael Hungate. Trevin Sonnier followed with another RBI double down the left field line, trading places with Hungate for a 2-0 ORU lead.
The Golden Eagles extended the margin to five with a three-spot in the sixth inning. A two-run double to left center by Chase Stafford drove in Hungate and Sonnier, and Matt Whatley added an RBI single through the left side to plate Stafford for a 5-0 tally.
The Mavericks finally got on the board themselves in the bottom half of the sixth, pushing across a pair of runs with four hits. Senior
Collin Leif led off with a single to right center, and a single through the right side by senior
Clayton Taylor put runners on the corners. A Gruber sacrifice fly scored Leif, after which sophomore
Ryan Cate added a single through the left side to put two runners aboard again. Caniglia then lined a sharp RBI single to left, which drove in Taylor to make it 5-2.
Oral Roberts got both runs back in the seventh, courtesy of a two-run homer to left by Sonnier for a 7-2 score, which held for the remaining innings.
