Mavericks Remain Second at Summit Championship

NEWTON, Kan. – Kevin Gordon shot an even-par score of 72 on Monday to help the Omaha men's golf team remain in second place at the Summit League Championship.

The Mavericks had a team score of 298 in the second round of the three-round event, tying for their fourth-best team round of the season.  After 36 holes, they stand at 602.  South Dakota State continues to lead the tournament with a score of 584.  Western Illinois moved up to third at 603.  Just nine strokes separate teams 2 – 9.

Gordon had three birdies on the back side while carding UNO's best round of the day.  He and teammate Ben Maskus are tied for the team scoring lead and are tied for seventh overall at 148.  Maskus shot 73 on Monday and posted three birdies during his round including both par-5s on the back side.

Mitch Ryan is third for the Mavericks and 16th overall with a score of 151 that includes a middle round of 78.

Cameron MacGregor sits at 156 for the tournament after a second round card of 76.  He's tied for 31st in the 45-player field.  Sam Musch is one stroke back at 157 after shooting 77 in round two.  He's tied for 35th.

The final round of the championship begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course.  The Mavericks will tee off beginning at 9:40 a.m.
