OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's tennis team dropped its season finaleon Sunday, falling to South Dakota State, 6-1 at Miracle Hill Tennis Center. UNO concludes the season with a record of 11-12 (2-4 Summit League).
The Jackrabbits started the contest by taking two of three doubles matches to secure the doubles point. Omaha earned its lone doubles victory at No. 2, where the pair of junior Kenzie Hill and senior Molly Matricardi won a nail-biter over Florencia Magni/Beatriz Souza, 7-6.
South Dakota State then won five of the six singles matches to defeat Omaha, 6-1. Sophomore Michelle Lo earned a win at the No. 1 position by defeating Iasmin Rosa, 6-2, 6-0. The victory helped her finish the season with a record of 6-7, playing exclusively from the No. 1 spot.
Omaha's 11 wins on the season are the most in the Division I era. Individually, freshman Janelle Wilson capped the year with 10 singles victory in her inaugural season, which tied a UNO Division I record.
