SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Omaha men's golf team finished eighth at the Sacramento State Invitational on Tuesday.

The Mavericks finished with a 54-hole team score of 914 following a final round tally of 302 on Tuesday, their lowest of the tournament.  Sacramento State won the event with a score of 851, outpacing second-place Campbell which finished at 862.  Cal State Fullerton was third at 880.

For the second straight round, Ben Maskus led the Mavericks with a score of 73 over the 7,009-yard layout at the Valley Hi Country Club.  His round included three birdies, helping him finish at 225 for the tournament.  He tied for 19th in the field of 69 golfers.

Kevin Gordon carded a two-over par score of 74 in round three, a round that included four birdies.  He closed the tournament with a total of 229, good for a tie for 36th.  

Mitch Ryan and Cameron MacGregor tied for third in scoring for the Mavericks with total scores of 230.  Ryan shot 79 in the final round while MacGregor carded a 76.  They finished tied for 39th.

Miles Russell completed the scoring for the Mavericks with a total of 240 that included a final round of 79.

The Mavericks return to action at the Desert Shootout hosted by Denver and Northern Colorado in Phoenix, Ariz. on March 17-19.
