PATTERSON, La. – The Omaha men's golf team is in 11th place after the first round of the rain-shortened Atchafalaya Intercollegiate hosted by Nicholls State.
The Mavericks shot a team score of 308 on the first day of play at The Atchafalaya at Idlewild golf course. Louisiana Monroe leads with a score of 284, putting it four shots clear of Central Arkansas. Nicholls State is third at 291.
Rain scrubbed one round of play on Monday, turning the 54-hole tournament into a 36-hole event. The final round will begin on Tuesday at 8 a.m.
Kevin Gordon led the Mavericks on day one with a round of 75 that included a pair of birdies. He's tied for 30th in the field of 72 golfers.
Gordon is one stroke ahead of
Mitch Ryan who fired a 76 including a birdie on the par-5 13th hole. He's in a tie for 36th.
Ben Maskus is third in scoring for the Mavericks and tied for 47th overall with a round of 77.
Sam Musch shot a score of 80 to sit fourth for the Mavericks and 64th overall.
Miles Russell completed the scoring for UNO with a round of 82, good for a tie for 65th place.
