Box Score MACOMB, Ill. -- True to its identity, the Omaha volleyball team fought through a five-set battle again Saturday night, defeating Western Illinois 3-2 (21-25, 25-11, 25-21, 25-27, 15-9) at Western Hall.
Omaha is now 8-1 in five-set matches this season.
Freshman
Chloe Dousette paced the Mavericks with 17 kills on .395 hitting, adding five digs and a block.
Junior
Sydney O'Shaughnessy had her 13th double-double effort of the season with a match-high 55 assists and 12 digs, along with four kills, two aces and a block. Redshirt freshman
Meagen Roth had another double-double performance -- her third of the year -- with 12 kills, 16 digs, four blocks and four aces. Senior
Elise Brown added a double-double as well -- her third -- on 15 kills and 10 digs
Junior
Amanda Conlin led the Mavericks at the net, totaling a match-best six blocks with six kills and eight digs while hitting .417.
Defensively, freshman
Olivia Spanton and sophomore
Kayla Torson both had double-figure dig showings, tallying 15 and 11, respectively.
As a team, Omaha hit .266 to Western's .150, outdug the Leathernecks 81 to 72 and had the edge in blocking, 7.0 to 6.0.
WIU was led by a double-double from Shalyn Greenhaw, who had a team-best 15 kills with 13 digs. Emilee Dechant added 10 kills for the night, and Kaili Simmons had a match-high 21 digs.
Omaha finishes the 2016 season at 8-21 (5-11 Summit League), while the Leathernecks cap their run at 4-28 (1-15).
