DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. – The Omaha men's golf team finished seventh in their second tournament of the season, the Coyote Classic hosted by South Dakota.
The Mavericks finished with a three-round team score of 946 after firing a round of 313 on Tuesday at Dakota Dunes Country Club. Missouri State won the event with a score of 895. Northern Iowa was second at 922 and SIUE and Green Bay tied for third at 925.
Mitch Ryan led the Mavericks in scoring for the second straight tournament, carding a 54-hole score of 232 that included a final round of 79. He finished 14th overall.
Kevin Gordon was two strokes back at 234, putting him in 18th place. He and
Miles Russell, like Ryan, also shot 79 in the final round. Russell ended the tournament at 240, good for 31st place.
Junior college transfer
Ben Maskus had UNO's best round of the day, 76, to put him at 241 for the tournament. He finished in 33rd place.
Sam Musch completed the scoring for the Mavericks with a score of 261 after shooting 91 in round three.
The Mavericks are back in action next Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 28-29 at the Derek Dolenc Invitational at SIUE.
