Mavericks Jump To Fifth at Summit Championship

LOMPOC, Calif. – Phillip Baumberger's score of 70 in the second round helped the Omaha men's golf team move up to fifth place after the second day of play at the Summit League Championship.

The Mavericks, who were eighth after the first round, put up a second-round team score of 308 and now sit at 624, just nine strokes out of second place.  Oral Roberts leads the tournament after two rounds with a score of 606.  South Dakota State is second at 615, and South Dakota is third at 617.

The final round begins on Sunday at 10 a.m. CT at La Purisima Golf Course.

Baumberger's 18-hole score was a career best and put him in the lead for UNO with a total of 148.  He's tied for fourth overall in the field of 45 golfers.

Karl Krieser is second for the Mavericks and tied for 17th overall with a total score of 157 that included a round of 80 on Saturday.  He's two strokes ahead of his fellow senior Alex Holtan who carded a 79 in round two to sit in a tie for 27th.

Taylor Sidzyik is tied for 40th with a total score of 165.  Like Holtan, he also shot 79 in the second round.  Caleb Haight shot 87 in the middle round and is now at 168, tying him for 43rd.
