MACOMB, Ill. – Senior
Alex Holtan shot a final round score of 74 to lead the Omaha men's golf team to fifth place at the Beu/Mussatto Invitational at Western Illinois on Tuesday.
The Mavericks finished with a 54-hole team score of 918 that included a final round tally of 312. They finished just one stroke behind fourth-place IUPUI. William Woods won the event with a score of 892 followed by Bradley at 895 and Indian Hills Community College at 910.
Holtan led the Mavericks in scoring for the first time this season. He finished with a three-round total of 229 to finish 12th overall.
Taylor Sidzyik was two strokes behind at 231 after a final round of 83. He tied for 17th.
Karl Krieser,
Caleb Haight and
Phillip Baumberger all tied for third for the Mavericks and tied for 25th overall with scores of 234. Krieser shot an 83, Haight an 81 and Baumberger a 74, tying him with Holtan for best round of the day.
Lucas Gervais, playing as an individual, shot an 85 on Tuesday to finish at 237, good for 35th.
The Mavericks won't play again until finishing their season at the Summit League Championship in Lompoc, Calif. on May 1-3.
