MACOMB, Ill. – Taylor Sidzyik shot the third-lowest round by a Maverick this season, leading the Omaha men's golf team to fourth place on the first day of play at the Beu/Mussatto Invitational at Western Illinois.

The Mavericks put up a 36-hole team score of 606 after the first day of play.  They are 12 strokes behind Bradley and Indian Hills Community College who are tied for second at 594.  William Woods leads the nine-team tournament with a score of 590.

Sidzyik shot a score of 78 in round one but came back with a career-best card of 70 in the second round and is in a tie for sixth with a total of 148.

Karl Krieser is tied for 16th in the field of 59 after shooting 74 and 77 for a score of 151.  He's two strokes ahead of teammate Caleb Haight who shot 82 in round one but came back strong with a 71 in round two to sit in a tie for 23rd.

Alex Holtan fired rounds of 79 and 76 for a total of 155 to put himself in a tie for 26th.  Phillip Baumberger went 84-76-160 to sit in a tie for 39th.

Lucas Gervais, playing as an individual, shot rounds of 75 and 77 and is tied for 19th overall.

The Mavericks have the early tee times for round three, beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Harry Mussatto Golf Course.
