Box Score TULSA, Okla. -- The Omaha baseball team dropped its second game of the weekend on Saturday, falling 11-1 in eight innings to Oral Roberts at J.L. Johnson Stadium. The Mavericks move to 13-10 (6-2 Summit League) on the year, while the Golden Eagles improve to 16-9 (7-1 Summit League) and take sole possession of first place in the conference.

The win went to ORU starter Xavier Altamirano (3-1), who threw 7.0 innings with one run allowed on three hits and a walk while striking out seven. Senior right-hander Zach Williamsen (3-3) was tagged with the loss, giving up five runs on nine hits with three strikeouts.

Senior Daniel Jewett, junior Clayton Taylor and freshman Adam Caniglia each had a hit for the Mavericks, who were held to three hits for the afternoon.

ORU collected 15 hits as a team, with two apiece from Rolando Martinez, Matt Brandy, Audie Afenir, Derrian James, Nick Roark and Dean Wilson. Afenir finished 2-for-4 with a run scored and four RBI for the day.

Oral Roberts jumped out 1-0 in the second inning, then stretched its lead to 5-0 in the third after four runs on five hits. The Golden Eagles added two more runs in the sixth, going up 7-0.

Omaha scored its first run of the series in the seventh, with Taylor ripping a leadoff single to right and later scoring from second on Jewett's two-out RBI double through the left side to make it 7-1.

ORU seized the win on the run-rule in the eighth, as four runs on three hits halted the game with a final score of 11-1.

Omaha and Oral Roberts complete the weekend series on Sunday, March 29, with first pitch at 1 p.m. at J.L. Johnson Stadium. Links to live stats, audio and video will be available on OMavs.com.
