PATTERSON, La. – The Omaha men's golf team is in sixth place after the first round of the Atchafalaya Intercollegiate hosted by Nicholls State on Monday.
The Mavericks shot team rounds of 316 and 324 for a 36-hole score of 640. New Orleans and South Dakota are tied for first with scores of 616. Incarnate Word is third at 618.
Karl Krieser led the Mavericks and is in a tie for seventh in the field of 45 golfers with a score of 155 after firing rounds of 77 and 78 in the rain at The Atchafalaya at Idlewild.
Alex Holtan and
Brandon Sletmoen are tied for second for UNO and tied for 27th overall after finishing at 162. Holtan shot matching rounds of 81 while Sletmoen had rounds of 78 and 84.
Phillip Baumberger was one stroke back at 163, good for a tie for 33rd. He shot 80 in the first round and an 83 in the second.
Taylor Sidzyik completed the scoring for UNO with rounds of 84 and 82 for a score of 166 that put him in a tie for 39th.
The final round will be played on Tuesday beginning at 10 a.m.
